Preliminary results

While we, in this country, obediently refuse to publish even exit polls and the turn-out is still described vaguely as "low" (how low? lower than ever or just the same?) over in the Netherlands they are cheerfully announcing exit polls.

Voter turn-out there was about 40 per cent, which is normal for Euroepan elections.

On the basis of those exit polls Geert Wilders's Freedom Party is predicted to come second with 15 percent of the vote and four seats in the Toy Parliament; prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende's Christian Democrats are predicted to take five seats with 20 percent of the vote.

UPDATE: It seems the turn-out was actually 36.5 per cent down from 39.2 per cent last time.
